A Guide to the Celtic Fair Folk

A Modern Guide to the Celtic Otherworld and its inhabitants.

The subject of fairies in Celtic cultures is a complex one that seems to endlessly intrigue people. What exactly are fairies? What can they do? How can we interact with them? Answering these questions becomes even harder in a world that is disconnected from the traditional folklore and flooded with modern sources that are often vastly at odds with the older beliefs. This book aims to present readers with a straightforward guide to the older fairy beliefs, covering everything from Fairyland itself to details about the beings within it. The Otherworld is full of dangers and blessings, and this guidebook will help you navigate a safe course among the Good People.

The writing is still easy to understand even though it's written more like an essay would be. I just love how well research this book is, I am not kidding when I say there is a lot of info here. It's rather mind blowing. I took my time reading this one just so I could retain everything better. A wonderful book! ~ Carrie Artrip-Sallie, http://sweetcherry69.blogspot.co.uk/2018/01/2-fairy-mini-book-reviews.html

A very good and well researched book on the fairies with a well documented part on the lore and mythology of the fairy folk. Intesteresting for all those who want to learn more about fairies. ~ Anna Maria Giacomasso, NetGalley

I loved this! It was perfectly informative without reading like a textbook. I really enjoyed the author's voice and the way this was written. I will definitely be picking up other titles by Daimler in the future. ~ Jane Feldman, NetGalley

Wonderful and resourceful. Anyone interested in the good folks will want to read this book. ~ Catherine Hankins, NetGalley

I really found this interesting to read. I have family members who love fairies, and while I've never been a huge fan, I knew something about them. This book is a serious look at the mythology of fairies, and where they appear in culture. There are poems and definitions, and serious discussions of folklore. Reading this gave me more to talk about with my family members, and I could easily justify using it as a source for a paper on folklore. The prose is easy to follow, and more grounded than I was expecting. Very interesting, and informative read that I could see getting for family or friends with an interest in fairies or folklore. ~ Alexis Adams, GoodREads/NetGalley

This is an absolute gem. No other modern work gives the reader a better understanding of the fair folk or offers a more comprehensive wealth of knowledge pertaining to their lore. Morgan Daimler continued to be one of my favorite authors. She draws readers in with a mix of personal experiences and practical advice that will be invaluable to anyone who wants a genuine connection with the Fair Folk. ~ Stephanie Woodfield, author of Celtic Lore & Spellcraft of the Dark Goddess, and Dark Goddess Craft

Living in the Irish countryside where fairy raths, paths and strange goings on are part of everyday life I was captivated by Fairies: A Guide to the Celtic Fair Folk. As with all of Daimler’s books I was impressed by her thorough research, her clarity of writing and the inclusion of a chapter giving basic guidelines for dealing with Fairies. There is so much to commend in this book that I believe it is the most thorough guide to the Good People I have read. ~ Jane Brideson, artist & blogger at The Ever-Living Ones: Irish Goddesses & Gods in Landscape, Myth & Custom

Impeccably researched and delightfully well written, Fairies - A Guide to the Celtic Fair Folk is a book that every pagan who is interested in following the fairy path should read. Morgan Daimler is a leading expert on traditional Celtic fairylore and this is her finest work on the subject to date. ~ Lucya Starza, author of Pagan Portals - Candle Magic and A Bad Witch’s Blog

In my opinion this is the best book on Fairy and quite possibly the only one you will ever need. Morgan Daimler is my guru on all things fairy and this book is now my new ‘go to’ guide. Leaving behind all the gossamer wings and flowery petal skirts (thankfully) this book covers all you need to know and more from traditional fairy to the modern world and everything in between. If you want to step away from the glitter and into the REAL world of fairy then this book is a must have. Highly recommended. ~ Rachel Patterson, author of Pagan Portals - Kitchen Witchcraft, The Cailleach and Moon Magic
